In the spirit of rejoicing and celebration, Chabad House Jewish Student Center at Rutgers University and its ten affiliate Chabad Houses serving central and southern New Jersey, will celebrate their National Founders 43rd  Anniversary Dinner at the Grand Ballroom of Chabad House, 170 College Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ, on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 6:00 PM.  More than 600 community leaders and supporters are expected to pay tribute to the honorees,  Mr. Edward Mosberg, Developer, Holocaust Survivor, and Educator; Dr. Jonathan Holloway, President of Rutgers University; Mr. Brock Pierce, Chairman of the Brock Pierce Foundation. 


 


This gala dinner is celebrating the 43rd Anniversary of Chabad House at Rutgers and the ninth-year of operation of the 90,000 square foot mega, Les Turchin Chabad House. This complex features housing facilities for 107 students (separate Men and Women dorms), the Franco-Ashkenazi Sephardic Synagogue and Library, The Shevell Family Ashkenazi Synagogue, International Coffee Shoppe, Student Lounges, Gyms, Counseling Center, and a 750 person Kosher Dining Hall with Commercial Kitchens.  Chabad House serves a population of seven thousand Jewish students at Rutgers University - the largest Jewish student body in the USA. 


The dinner will honor and commemorate all the educational Holocaust activities that Edward Mosberg accomplished over many decades in the U.S., Europe, and Israel. A special musical presentation will be performed by the world-renowned Chazzan, Shai Abramson, Chief Cantor (ret) of the Israel Defense Force. Dr. Jonathan Holloway, President of Rutgers University will be publicly acknowledged for his tireless efforts and role in educating young men and women on the college campus. Mr. Brock Pierce will be honored for his global leadership and philanthropy through the Brock Pierce Foundation. 


Rabbi Yosef Carlebach, Director of Chabad House, will report on the past year’s outreach programs and activities, which were challenging but successful despite the Covid-19 pandemic,  as well as its diversified work in the Rutgers and surrounding communities. Participants at the dinner will receive a special coffee table "43rd Anniversary Album" pictorially depicting the history of Chabad House from its first days in 1978, in a rented room at the Rutgers Student Center, to its location today as the largest Jewish Center on any public university campus in the world.
